The program Angelic Hymns – Choir Fest, was held for the Second time from the Diocese of Cochin on 22nd January 2017. It was founded in 2016 by Rt. Rev. B.N. Fenn at the CSI All Saints Church, Trissur. It was started to encourage the members of the choir and the congregation to use their talents for the Glory of God which eventually enables them to worship Him in Spirit and truth.
Members of choirs from 19 churches started filling the premises of the Immanuel church from 1.30 pm. The members of the Church and Diocesan committee had made all the necessary arrangements for the hassle free conduct of the program. The participants were welcomed with tea and snacks and were also provided with the basic necessities for participating in the Fest. Members of the Immanuel congregation were involved in helping voluntarily with the various arrangements for the smooth conduct of the program.
The bells of the CSI Immanuel Church rang at 3.pm to announce the melodious rendering of Songs by 19 choirs from the churches in the Diocese of Cochin. The service began with the Malayalam hymn “Ellarum Yeshu Namaththe” followed by the opening prayer. The welcome speech was delivered by Rev. Pradeep George , the General Convenor of the program. It was followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp by Rt. Rev. B. N. Fenn, to mark the inauguration of the Choir Fest followed by the inaugural address of Thirumeni. This was followed by felicitations by Rev. P. J. Jacob, Treasurer (Diocese of Cochin), Rev. Jacob John, Clergy Secretary, Diocese of Cochin , Mr. Abraham Simon, Lay Secretary, Diocese of Cochin, Mrs. Sakhi Mary Fenn, President, Women’s Fellowship, Diocese of Cochin and Mr. Babu Abraham, Secretary, CSI Immanuel Church, Ernakulam.
This was followed by the rendering of 2 songs by each choir. After each choir had rendered their songs, the members of the choir and the participating Church were encouraged by presenting a Memento to the Church and a certificate to each member of the choir. This was received by the Vicar and the Choir Master of the respective church. All the Churches had made sincere efforts in training the voices and rendered meaningful hymns by singing and shouting praises to Our King, Saviour and Redeemer. The program reminded us of the years of eternity that we as God’s children are to spend with Him in Heaven singing praises to the Lamb of God. The entire program was telecast live on web. This enabled all the members of the various participating churches to watch the program live, though they were unable to be physically present for the program. Mrs. Aruna Jibu, the Master of Ceremony of the program, whose warm words of welcome preceding the rendering of the songs by each choir and the heartful words of encouragement and praise after the singing, added flavour to the program.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Jibu Jose, Programme Convenor followed by prayer. This was followed by fellowship dinner for the nearly 700 persons who attended the program. We thank the Lord who enabled us to glorify His name through the talents He has given. We also thank all the well-wishers who supported the program in various ways. We thank the Vicars and the Choir members of each Church for their support and making this program a success by participating and rendering meaningful songs of worship. May God enable us to Glorify Him in all that we do so that the earth may be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord like the waters cover the sea.
