The C.M.S College Kottayam is the first college in India set up by Christian missionaries; it was established the year 1817. The Bicentenary Celebration of C.M.S College was held at 6 pm on 26 Jan 2017 at the CSI Immanuel Church Ernakulam, by the Ernakulam Chapter of the Alumni Association, at the very same time when the celebrations were being held at C.M.S College campus and in places like New Jersey, Canada, Kuwait, Sharjah, Dubai, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Thiruvananthapuram. 

The inauguration of the Ernakulam Chapter of the Alumni Association was conducted by Rev. Jacob John. Felicitations were offered by Rev. Pradeep George, Dr. Philip Augustine renowned Gastro Physician and alumnus of the college and Mr. John Raju, the President of the Ernakulam chapter and senior most alumnus present on the occasion. Going down the memory lane of two centuries, Mr. George Ninan, Secretary of the association made a presentation on the history of the C.M.S College . Reminiscences of college days spiced with humour were shared by the alumni which made the programme memorable. The message from the President of the Alumni Association of C.M.S College, Kottayam, Mr. C.A Abraham, Retd. Principal was also read out on the occasion. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Babu Abraham, convener of the programme.
